Maternal & Infant Health: Stories from Women of Color
Apr 23 @ 12:00 pm – 1:15 pm

The 2021 theme of Stand Against Racism is “From Declarations to Change: Addressing Racism as a Public Health Crisis.” YWCA Mahoning Valley’s Stand Against Racism event focuses on the increased rates of maternal and infant mortality and complications among women of color. Hear about the losses and successes of women’s pregnancy journey, birthing experiences and their quest for housing. Learn how race is a factor in these challenges and how stable housing can encourage healthy outcomes. Featured speakers are Dr. Nicolette Powe of Youngstown State University, Leigh Greene of Youngstown Local Office on Minority Health and Leah Merritt, President & CEO of YWCA Mahoning Valley.
