YWCA Receives Grant from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley

The $25,000 award will go towards YWCA Housing Programs 

YWCA Mahoning Valley received $25,000 for its housing programs from the Western Reserve Health Foundation, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

YWCA’s President & CEO, Leah Merritt, said these funds will meet community needs at a critical time.

“Our housing programs are essential to our clients,” Merritt said. “We are grateful to the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley for recognizing their needs and supporting our efforts.”

YWCA Mahoning Valley offers affordable, transitional, and permanent supportive housing. The organization served 118 households in 2025.

YWCA works on providing access to safe affordable housing for low-income and homeless population, while focusing on removing the chronic issues that cause homelessness. YWCA adopts the philosophy that housing is a social determinant of health and by providing housing that is safe, affordable and sustainable, individuals can work on bettering their health and quality of life.
